Veteran Broadcaster Brings High-Octane Classic Top 40 Energy Back to Montreal Airwaves

MONTREAL, QC — September 10, 2026 — CFQR 600 AM announced today that legendary broadcaster Terry 'Motormouth' Young is officially joining the station’s lineup as the host of afternoon drive. Starting Monday, September 14, Young will take over the 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekday shift, bringing his signature charisma, rapid-fire style, and unvarnished love of great music to Montreal listeners.

In an era of automated playlists and an endless 24-hour news cycle, CFQR continues its mission to restore personality-driven radio to the dial. Young’s arrival marks a major milestone in reviving the golden era of Top 40 broadcasting—focused on energy, warmth, and escapism.

“We live in turbulent, complicated times, and audiences are constantly bombarded with breaking news and heavy headlines. CFQR is intentionally doing something different,” said Daniel Coulombe, Program Director of CFQR 600 AM. “Our mission is to bring back the radio you loved growing up—great music and genuine personalities from morning until night. Montreal has an incredible legacy of radio giants, from Dave Boxer, Marc Denis, and George Morris to the late Ralph Lockwood, who originally hailed from Philadelphia. In a wonderful radio parallel, Terry Young made his name dominating the airwaves as the premier personality in Philadelphia before entertaining listeners across North America on XM Satellite Radio. Terry is an authentic radio artist, and they simply don’t make them like this anymore. Above all, Terry truly believes in what we are building here and passionately wanted to be part of Montreal classic Top 40.”

Young gained nationwide prominence during the 1980s and 1990s as a dominant voice in major US markets, most notably at Philadelphia’s legendary WCAU-FM, where his dynamic delivery earned him the moniker 'Motormouth.' He later brought his expansive music knowledge and magnetic personality to national audiences via satellite radio.

“Radio is supposed to be fun, uncomplicated, and electric,” added Coulombe. “Terry is all about high-spirited entertainment and connecting with the listener. We couldn't be more excited to have him in the driver’s seat for Montreal’s commute home.”

Listeners can tune in to Terry 'Motormouth' Young weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. beginning Monday, September 14, across Greater Montreal on 600 AM and online at CFQR600.com.
